Locked In The Closet - Ep 20 with Scrap Pile
In today's episode (recorded on June 20th, 2020), Ryan has a chat with the Jake Miller of Scrap Pile from Eagle Lake, TX (in between Austin and Houston). Scrap Pile is an up and coming slam band so if you are into gutturals and chugs, these are your guys.
From the time this was recorded to air date (2 weeks), COIVD-19 is on the rise again in southern states. Texas is nearing the top of that list. With these episodes, we want to make sure our musicians are doing ok. Jake has seen a reduction in hours in his small town. A lot of his companies work comes from the oil field and with the slowdown of people traveling, his company hit a slowdown period but since has picked back up a little.
The last show that Scrap Pile played was the locals only showcase back in March at Come and Take It Live (also last show Ryan went to). So, in the down time, they have added a new member and are working on new music. Jake talks about the process learning curve because they have never done an album and during these times, they are making due with what they have to push forward.
Jake and the gang also run their own podcast tilted “The ScrapCast”. They go off on tangents for hours and talk about whatever they want. Check out their YouTube Channel.
The featured song on today's show is “Gura Gura” from Scrap Pile
